Superintendent | New Home Construction
Field Operations | Trade Partner Management | Quality & Customer Experience
An award-winning national production homebuilder is seeking a Superintendent to run day-to-day field operations at the community level, taking homes from lot start through final orientation and key handoff. This builder pairs disciplined construction practices with a quality-first build philosophy — and treats superintendents as the center of the field operation. The role owns schedule, trade performance, quality, and site safety for an active single-family community in California.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate all on-site construction activity at the community/subdivision level in accordance with company standards, sequencing, and processes.
• Direct and supervise trade partners and subcontractors; hold them accountable for performance, quality, safety, and adherence to scopes of work.
• Build and maintain construction schedules across multiple homes in different phases; manage workflow continuity and remove constraints before they cost days.
• Inspect and approve completed work for compliance with construction documents, company standards, and applicable building codes.
• Coordinate and manage municipal inspections, approvals, and Certificates of Occupancy with AHJs.
• Maintain job-site safety and OSHA/Cal-OSHA compliance; enforce SWPPP requirements and daily trade clean-up.
• Lead homeowner orientations and walk-throughs; resolve construction-related issues in coordination with sales and customer relations.
• Manage community-level cost control — variance POs, takeoff accuracy, and trade payment approvals.
• Maintain daily reports, progress photos, inspection logs, and field documentation to company standards.
• Utilize construction technology and scheduling software to manage, report, and forecast work.
• Mentor assistant superintendents and field staff; cultivate an accountable, safety-first culture.
Qualifications
• 2+ years of residential construction field management at the Superintendent level; production homebuilding strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred — or 6–8 years of equivalent experience.
• Working knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, and California building codes.
• Proven ability to manage trade partners and run multiple homes in different phases simultaneously.
• Proficient with field/scheduling software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or builder ERP equivalents).
• OSHA certification a plus; valid driver’s license required.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Compensation
$110,000–$120,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus bonus program and full benefits.
