Leading Residential Homebuilder | Operational & Strategic Finance | High-Impact Leadership Role

A well-established and highly regarded homebuilder is seeking a Division Controller to oversee all financial operations, reporting, and planning for one of its most active divisions in the Sacramento region.

This is a key leadership opportunity for a finance professional who thrives at the intersection of operations and strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep accounting knowledge, strong business acumen, and experience supporting divisional growth within a fast-paced, construction-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close for the division

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies

• Analyze and report on division performance, including margin, backlog, and KPI tracking

• Oversee financial projections and assist with pricing and lot release strategies

• Collaborate cross-functionally with land, construction, and sales leadership

• Support and enforce internal controls, banking procedures, and risk management practices

• Utilize ERP systems to drive reporting accuracy and operational visibility

• Serve as financial advisor to the Division President and senior leadership

• Manage and mentor the accounting team, promoting accountability and growth

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 6–8+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance

• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards

• Excellent Excel and financial modeling skills

• Experience in the homebuilding or real estate development industry preferred

• ERP system experience (JD Edwards or similar) strongly preferred

• Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational abilities

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience in residential construction, homebuilding, or land development

• Hands-on leadership of a divisional finance/accounting team

• Proven ability to partner with operations and executive teams to support growth
