Purchasing Manager

A leading builder is seeking a Purchasing Manager with single-family construction experience that will maintain data on subcontractors hired, determine estimates of house budgets for direct cost, competitively bid subcontractors as needed, negotiate price and terms; and create and maintain direct cost budgets for all active projects. The ideal candidate will directly manage two or more employees in the Purchasing Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
  • Manage bid process for architectural plans to subcontractors and vendors
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • Create budgets for upcoming projects
  • Manage costs of existing projects
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; preferably in supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration
  • Five to eight years of related experience and/or training as Purchasing Manager, Agent or Officer
  • Proven experience with sourcing, negotiation and vendor management
  • Ability to gather and analyze data
  • Possess strong leadership skills and networking capabilities
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
  • Experience and knowledge in JD Edwards a plus
